ATLANTA and South Milwaukee, Wisc. — LexisNexis® Risk Solutions today announced that the South Milwaukee Police Department has deployed LexisNexis® Police Reports. The solution provides a means for commercial entities, such as insurance agencies and law firms, to obtain accident reports electronically through an automated platform. The new service will drive internal efficiencies and ultimately improve service to the citizens of South Milwaukee.
“The ability to offer accident reports in an electronic format will save our officers and clerical staff countless hours in processing time,” said Ann M. Wellens, Chief of Police for the South Milwaukee Police Department. “This new system will also provide a benefit to our citizens who are looking to expedite the insurance and/or legal process associated with an automobile accident. Instead of sending physical copies of our reports to the state and then mailing requested copies to insurance companies and law firms, those organizations can now request and access them online. This has the potential to cut delivery time from 10-20 days down to one or two.”
LexisNexis allows for quick and efficient online document retrieval, as well as provides additional benefits, including:
In addition to the benefits to the agency and the citizen, a portion of the proceeds of each crash report purchased through the system will be provided to the Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association, an organization dedicated to providing quality training and assistance to over 400 member Chiefs of Police and associate members.
“South Milwaukee is the first department in the state to transition to an electronic crash reporting platform and can serve as a template for other agencies state-wide,” said Roy Marler, Vice President, LexisNexis Risk Solutions. “In 2014, LexisNexis fulfilled and delivered approximately 44,000 physical crash reports in Wisconsin. Employing LexisNexis Police Reports allows an agency’s personnel to focus on more mission-critical aspects of their jobs, reduces the amount of paper needed to fulfill report requests and streamlines the overall process. This serves as a win-win to the department and citizens alike.”
