LexisNexis Risk Solutions Identity Verification and Authentication Now Available to Health Systems using Epic to Validate Users Accessing the MyChart® Patient Portal

ATLANTA — LexisNexis® Risk Solutions announced today that its identity authentication and verification solutions, InstantID® Q&A and Instant Verify, can now be integrated with the MyChart® patient portal. The integration offers Epic customers an easy-to-implement way to strengthen efforts to protect patient data.

Identities are validated in real-time, quickly giving the right individuals the right access to information and flagging those requiring additional validation on the spot. A layer of identity proofing solutions delivered through the use of sophisticated LexisNexis linking technology, LexID®, and an extensive consumer referential database make it possible.

The MyChart integration includes two important LexisNexis solutions. Each is designed to assess different criteria in the user validation process:

• LexisNexis® Instant Verify quickly determines if the identity being entered is an actual person by performing multiple data checks on the user’s identity data against extensive public records and proprietary databases.
• LexisNexis® InstantID Q&A is a knowledge-based authentication solution that utilizes non-intrusive questions to determine if the person submitting the identity data is the true owner of that identity. LexisNexis also offers the benefit of recognizing suspicious patterns in identity events that are known to be indicative of fraud.

These identity-proofing solutions can be used as standalones or together in a multi-factor authentication decision flow. Epic customers who choose to use these solutions will be taking steps to keep personally identifiable information secure and protect their patients’ privacy.
