The study also explores consumer views of smartphone-based UBI programs. In this scenario, an app on their iPhone or Android device collects and transmits the driving information. Consumer interest in this approach is promising. Especially if the program offers additional benefits such as emergency features, traffic updates and maintenance alerts.
