Vu Tran

Vu Tran is a principal data scientist for LexisNexis® Risk Solutions. In this role, Vu is responsible for computer vision and machine learning applications, specializing in enabling machines to ‘see’ and learn with remarkable efficiency—making AI more practical. Vu and his team develop award-winning, AI-enabled risk assessment and mitigation solutions for the insurance industry. His research in semi-supervised object detection achieves industry-leading, best-in-class performance, delivering insights from property interiors, exteriors and asset characteristics, and is used to power the AI behind the LexisNexis® Flyreel® consumer-led property survey tool application for home and commercial properties.

Vu’s research has been featured at highly regarded international computer vision and machine learning conferences, including the Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) and the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Statistics (AISTATS).

Vu joined LexisNexis Risk Solutions through the acquisition of Flyreel and has served the organization for nearly six years. Prior to joining the organization, he worked as a senior lead data scientist at Booz Allen Hamilton, a management and technology consulting firm.

Vu holds a bachelor's degree in bioengineering and a master's degree in engineering physics from the University of California, San Diego.
