LexisNexis eCrash Continues to Improve Automated Crash Reporting Process for Law Enforcement and Help Agencies Reallocate Resources through Acquisition of iyeTek

5/22/2014

ATLANTA — LexisNexis® Risk Solutions today announced the acquisition of Kalamazoo, Mich.-based iyeTek, an innovative software development company that creates mobile and handheld software solutions, enabling public safety agencies to save time and money and improve services provided to their communities. Together, the companies can help law enforcement agencies fully automate their accident reporting process from beginning to end, resulting in cost savings, more effective information sharing and enhanced investigative capabilities.

“By integrating iyeTek into LexisNexis, we can further assist agencies in implementing more effective strategies to reduce traffic related accidents, injuries and fatalities, while better serving citizens and agencies who need crash data,” said Bill Madison, CEO, Insurance, LexisNexis. “Thousands of police officers rely on iyeTek solutions to write legible tickets and crash reports easily and quickly.”

Agencies such as New Mexico State Police, St. Louis County Sheriff, Orlando Police Department and Miami Dade Police Department have deployed LexisNexis® eCrash, a free electronic crash reporting solution developed by LexisNexis with iyeTek technology. In addition to providing officers with an automated exchange of information to easily and quickly supply reports to involved parties, states and other organizations, the solution includes an analytic component allowing officers to easily identify accident prone locations.

“With LexisNexis, we are able to stay true to iyeTek’s mission – to deliver real-time information into the hands of the people who need it the most so that they can focus on their mission, not the technology,” said Salman Anwar, managing partner, iyeTek. “LexisNexis and iyeTek share a vision for product innovation and development, supported by strong people and cutting edge technology.”

LexisNexis eCrash users will benefit from iyeTek’s eCitation capabilities and extended mobile platforms, allowing officers to issue citations electronically, populating data with a quick swipe of a driver’s license and instantly export information. LexisNexis eCrash also gives law enforcement agencies the ability to:

  • Simplify accident report data entry, storage, access and distribution
  • Reduce manual handling, save time, reduce costs associated with copying accident reports and improve administrative efficiency
  • Improve service to the public by allowing involved parties to purchase reports online, 24/7
  • Decrease walk-in and mail report requests, and eliminate the agency’s need to input accident data
  • Improve the agency’s investigative strength by providing easy access to their accident/crash reports and those of other participating agencies across the country
