Used-car owners are interested in connected services

Buyers of used connected cars are keen on trying connected services, according to our recently published research, the Driver’s Mindset: Connectivity and Connectedness.

But those customers remain largely untapped: only one in every four used car buyers is offered a connected services free trial at the dealership. Yet, automakers can reach out to them after they leave the leadership and offer the benefits of connectivity in their recently purchased vehicles.

In this video, Pavan Mathew, Head of Automotive Business Development at LexisNexis Risk Solutions, talks about this potential opportunity to establish a relationship with used connected car owners.

Increase the activation of connected car services

Activation rates of connected services would be higher if buyers of connected cars were offered to try those services in a free trial, according to a survey conducted in November 2022 by LexisNexis Risk Solutions with over 2,000 connected car owners.

But only 43% of buyers heard in their dealerships about the opportunity to enroll in a free trial – and after trying them, nearly half (45%) became paid subscribers.
